[EM] Split cycle

Joe Malkevitch
Dear List members,

I wonder if there are any thoughts about the Split Cycle method described here in comparison other methods that use ordinal ballots and which elect a Condorcet winner when there is one:

Best wishes,

Joe

Re: [EM] Split cycle

Markus Schulze-3
Hallo,

well, lemma 3.17 says that every winner of the Schulze method
is also a winner of the Split Cycle method. So the authors
sacrifice decisiveness to get compliance with other criteria.

This is problematic because, should the Split Cycle method be
considered for adoption somewhere, the authors would have to
say how situations with more than one winner of the Split
Cycle method have to be resolved. And when they do so, they
immediately lose compliance with these other criteria.
